Connection timeout problems

    I have a 24mb NGB connection.
I have set up an FTP site at home using Filezilla server. The site has been working flawlessly for the last 5yrs......until I moved over to NGB (so it seems).

Now, when I try to connect to my IP address, I get permanent timeout errors. Access to the site internally works perfect. There is no impediment / block at router level (port forwarding is enabled and configured correctly).

is there anything in the NGB configuration that would block or inhibit FTP access?

    Hi Italia,

    Thanks for your query.

I would check your eircom broadband connection and advise shortly.

    Kind regards

    Hi Italia,

Thanks for waiting on my reply.

I have looked at your NGB connection and can see that it is connecting solidly across our network (on our auth server). The attainables are a little bit low, and If you have any problems connecting I would advise lowering this slightly.

In relation to your (web) server, there is nothing that NGB will do to inhibit or block your access; using FTP or any other application. Switching to NGB won't make any difference to your ability to access to your server or to any other website.

I would advise just check with your IT. You may need to ensure you are using the correct passive /or active transfer mode on your FTP application.

Let me know if I can assist further on this or any other matter.

    Kind regards,

    Ant

    Ant,
Thanks very much for the reply.
I don't have any connectivity issues, except inbound to my FTP server. Everything else seems to be 100% ok.
I'm still not totally convinced about ruling out the connection, but I'll do some more troubleshooting and see where that takes me.

    Hi Italia,

Thanks for reply. If you need to get back to me to check your sync or attainables again, just let me know.

However, please try to test your connection direct on the master phone socket on a single laptop /or PC. Test your connection without the adsl splitter, and disconnect any other equipment (LAN network, sky box(s), extension leads).

If you then test your broadband speed on www.eircom.net/speedtest.
