Yeah, it's an awesome, chilled out place, I've been a couple of times. Santiago de Compostela and A Coruna (sp?) are well worth it. The inlets near Vigo make for lovely sailing. Food is good, the seacoast is beautiful... night life is a bit quiet but still OK. If you can visit some of the islands, they're absolutely beautiful!

Thanks for that. What city is best for nightlife...vigo??....is it expensive in spanish terms??? Any good sites or other things you could recommend. Would you bus/train it or rent car?

Dunno - I would have guess A Coruna or Santiago de Compostella would be busier - but none of them are really very busy - it's not the south coast. It's also a little cheaper than the south I would say... but not very well organised for public transport - a car would be better.

Hi Ive traveled around Galicia quite a bit.
One of my best friends is from that Region and works for the Galician Tourist board.

Santiago is probably the liveliest city as its a huge university/student city where alot of the Tapas are for free.
Olenty of late bars here but by comparison to the rest of spain it is a bit quieter.
It also might be quieter in the summer when students are on hols.
A Coruna is gorgeous too, plenty of bars, summer night life as well.

For me the smaller towns can have great summer festivals, I went to VilaGarcia once,(http://www.ivilagarcia.com there is a eng link on side) a seaside/boating town.
    Really worth a visit.
They had a fiesta de agua which was incredible, it involved throwing buckets of water from the windows down on to lots of people parading around the town in swimwear or old clothes, then lots of vino.

    heres a link http://www.ivilagarcia.com/turismo/default_i.asp
see the san roque link under parties.

Its worth searching out other festivals in the area.

I love the city of Lugo, gorgeous walled city which you can walk, very authentic galician city with a fabulous old city area and quaint little bars.

All beaches around can be great and not busy.
One that was amazing was Playa de Las Catedrales Beach (cathedral beach), near Ribadeo Galicia.

Finisterra is also lovely (the 'end of the land' its where the pilgrims finish the walk across northern spain)

Buses (or car hire) are the main ways around the region. lots of people use the bus routes (pre book in high season if you can)
http://www.empresafreire.com/html/ingles/seccion0.php is one company Ive used.
    this website is very handy
http://en.arriva.es/ for all timetable etc you need.
Fish, seafood and local wines are the way to go. yummy.
their emaenada (a tuna pastry bake is great)

enjoy. I hope to take a trip there maybe in july.
