    Hi,

I'm wondering does anyone know of a good dentist and hygenist in dublin city centre that take medical cards? I have serious gum problems and my 4 front teeth are loose (im only 30)..the hygenist i go to charges 90 euro and i know that the medical card doesnt cover them anymore. since i have so much work to get done ive no idea where to go..my problem got worse when i started going to **no names allowed** as they were only 50euro, but the work they did was cosmetic so my gum disease has been getting worse..any help would be greatly appreciated..

    thanks

The medical card does not cover cleanings of gum treatments. They will however pay for you to have your loose teeth taken out (yeah great help there....thanks). You are stuck paying for treatment yourslef.

Best find a good dentist who can look after you long term as gum problems are an ongoing problem requiring maintenance and review on a regular basis. Best to see the same dentist each time.

Reccomendations by PM only no names allowed as per charter.

    Good luck

Can't get anything on medical card done. I got a free check-up on PRSI. (To the value of 50 euro, woohooo!) Had to spend a grand after that replacing fillings with composites, so the free check-up didn't really matter.

To be honest - just get the work done, and get a loan if you have to. Your teeth are priceless. Take care of your teeth properly - brush at least twice a day, use dental floss and mouth-wash and you won't have gum problems. But by the sounds of it, you'll need to see a specialist. My ma's gums were the same, and she went to a guy for a few months and got them back to good health.
