Sorry if this has already been answered. Couldnt find the answer anywhere on here tho.

So would it be possibile to recieve Saorview (from an UHF TV aerial) and free to air or free sat (from a standard dish) directly on the same box?

Yes. A combo box will allow you to access DTT and FTA satellite.

But a combo box won't give you the full 7 day listings for satellite channels, so beware if that's a feature you hope to get.

There are no official DSAT and DTT set top boxes that do the full Freeview / Saorview 7 day EPGs and Freesat 7 day EPG combined. Unfortunatly. I'd love one myself.

    That's why I didn't mention Saorview or Freesat :)

There's supposedly a Triax combo that is being certified for saorview for the DTT side, and speculation (nothing more afaik) that it'll do the Freesat epg via ethernet connection.

    thanks for getting back guys.

actually, just came across an old Kryptview A750. Could that be used to recieved Saorview? as its a DTT box.

    Yep, good question lighterguy.

What I'd like to know is:

    (1) I gather Freesat boxes will work with Saorsat. How do the PVRs work ? I've read Saorsat can have the coax downlead split. How does this work with a Humax Freesat PVR which requres at least a dual LNB in order to enable the recording facility on Freesat.

    (2) What about dual Saorsat/Freesat setups. Where will the Saorsat channels appear on the EPG, or will they have to be accessed in the non Freesat mode ?

    (3) Is a simpler solution two seperate systems i.e. two dishes and two boxes ?

The reason I ask these questions is really because I only keep Sky going in order to have the ability to receive RTE. If there was anyway to receive and record Saorview on a Freesat set up, I'd ditch Sky straight away.

It'll be interesting to see how Savvy the local satellite instalers are with regard to Saorview and Freesat compatability when it finally gets off the ground.

Or maybe I should just wait until next year for the Divis Saorview lite service, or for Clermont Cairn to remove the null to the north and increase power.

There is no such thing as saorsat (yet) are you getting your saorview and saorsat mixed up ?

    Nope.

I assume Saorsat will happen over the next few months, after the initial period of testing ? I gather an 80cm dish in NI will receiove the service.

    more info here

Yep, read all the info. on Watty's site which is excellent.

However, I'm still vague as to which boxes will receive the service, and what the implications are for Freesat PVR's for example, and if it's possible to receive Freesat and Saorview on the one dish and the one STB (PVR), how this would work, and where (or if) the Saorview channels would appear on the EPG in such a set up, or if they'll be under the non Freesat option ?????:
A dual tuner Recording box will only need one coax unlike Sky/Freesat which needs two.
A dish installed for Kasat Tooway Internet access can also feed Set-box simply by fitting Satellite signal splitter on cable.
A Freesat HD set-box but not a Sky Setbox should work.
Receiving Sky/Freesat and Saorsat will need either a special dual feed 80cm dish or a 2nd Saorsat dish on existing Sky/Freesat systems.
The dish for Saorsat can be small and without an arm and thus not be counted by Councils as a dish

You see, the above is what I'm vague on. I would imagine a lot of aerial and satellite installers in NI will be just as confused. As I say, maybe two satellite systems (i.e. one for Freesat and one for Saorsat) might be best.
