Anyone get any good shots of the Moon tonight? I tried but the lack of a tri-pod made for some crappy shots.

I got some on the beach but the Moon came out over exposed and the beach under exposed. My lens only has a max zoom of 55mm as well so that didn't help.

I haven't looked at the photos on the computer yet but will have a look tomorrow.

Does anyone know why is was so big tonight anyway ?

I got a few the night before, but most were out of focus. Also they were of clouds with the moon peeping out.
Went out later on and all the clouds were gone! Grrr with all my gear away.

it's a matter for debate. a lot of people maintain that it looks bigger when hear the horizon because we simply have something to measure it against.

It was a lovely moon, nice and big and yellow :) Unfortunately, my 70-200mm just isn't long enough to get a decent shot.

i was hoping to get the moon stuck in behind the floods in dalymount, but unfortunately couldn't get the angle.

I used exactly that lens for shooting the Moon on Monday and cropped them - not the same as 400mm, I admit, but still working...me thinks :) (example below)

we had a quite good view that day... and thanks to the 500mm and a triple-converte (do you say so in english??) we were able to capture it....

    here's an older shot:
