    A friends situation.

Applied for mortgage interest relief last year,

got the lender to fill in everything

    submitted it

heard nothing, called in to the office again and over 20 times in 7 months

every time there is a very weak excuse, 'wont be able to make a decision this week due to short staffed / bank holiday / mislaid paperwork / further request for information from lender / 3 months have past need all new copies of the bank statements'

At least is an unfavourable decision was made an appeal could be started

Its unbelievable, is it worth writing to the Superintendent Community Welfare Officer or can you go higher?

Do you really have to bother a TD to get someone to do their job in this day and age?

All the Community Welfare Officer says is, I make the decisions, you'll have to wait.

the cwo doesn't make the decision, their boss does. when you filll out the application it is passed onto that particular offices supervisor/manager. so ask for their managers name or ask can you speak to them directly next time you are there or your friend is there. alternatively if you can get the main telephone number for that office, you can call and ask for the supervisors name and ask to speak to them or send them a letter outlining the situation. hth

Thanks for the answer, at least we know who to contact. The local office dont answer the phone, do you know if the supervisiors name would be on a website etc?

All the letters are signed by the CWO.

I guess she'll just have to go to the main office and ask for the persons name at reception.

It will nearly be a year by the time a decision is made and the relief only lasts a year1

    Thanks again.
