    Hi,
I'm not looking for medical advice, rather how to go about getting it...
I think I might have a stress fracture (based on what I've read on T'internet about the symptoms ) I'm wondering should I go to a g.p. and get a letter for A&E, or a physio, or a podiatrist ?

    Thanks,
    Paul

A GP or a trip to A&E will end up with you getting an x-ray and it's rare for a stress fracture to show up on an x-ray. It is your best bet though. There's not much you can do for a stress fracture other than rest and let it heal so a physio wouldn't be much good unless it's not a stress fracture. Your best bet is getting the GP to refer you for an x-ray and see where the hospital take it.

I had made the same self diagnosis on an injury back in November.

The only way to get an MRI is basically to go to a private clinic and you need a G.P. letter to do so. I realised that I would have to spend €50 in the G.P. (and about €300 on the scan) so I decided to spend my €50 on a physio first. That was the best decision I made as he diagnosed the injury within 5 minutes as being a peroneal tendon strain and not a Fracture. I was only out for 3 days in the end...

So My advice is to definately see a physio before (possibly) wasting a lot of money on an MRI.

Thanks both. I was thinking the the only use for a g.p. would be to get the letter and that a physio would be the way to go. It's not like I'm made of money, but I would prefer to get some expert advice first in case it is just a tendon. It's been proper sore since the GIR last week, but has been sore after each run over the last 4 weeks or so. I thought it may have been my shoes, but I tried wearing 4 different pairs ranging from ASICs 3020s to Merrell trail gloves, all with the same results.
It's affecting my other foot too, but to a lesser extent.
Anyone recommend a good physio in the D18 area ?

    Thanks again

There is only one man for you, the Famous Ciaran Fitzgerald, but you'll have to get to Dundrum. I'll PM you his number.

By The way That is more or less what hapenned to me, foot constatnlty sore for weeks, but after he spent an hour tweaking at the tendon, the pain was virtually gone. Fingers crossed it is not a break.

Obviously not quite famous enough! I believe you might be referring to Ciaran Fitzpatrick.
