Let's hope they don't go as cheap under FG leadership as mobile phone licences. :-)

But seriously will they just sell them or let them for a fixed term under licence?

Will they work on a throughput value and bring that back to a net present value?

Or they could use UK example. Didn't they sell airports to Ferrovial a few years back for megabucks

They're looking into selling them. It's not definite. I can't really see it happening though. They won't make money back on T2.
Plus, DAA (State-owned) just won the T2 contract because the other private alternatives didn't meet the requirements. So Dublin Airport (and other airports I suppose) would still be run by a state-owned body.

Buying the DAA ( which for now remains the ' owner ' of the 3 airports ) is a bit like buying Eircom , regardless of the price paid it has to be remembered that the DAA is saddled with huge debts .
If I recall correctly there are bonds that will need to be re-financed shortly - this may focus the mind of government on the privatisation issue.

If they do go up for sale, I think Shannon would be a great buy for Ryanair to set up a hub for their eventual trans-atlantic routes. How much would it net the state in initial capital, not much i'd say but the revenue from services generated in the state thereafter may make it worth selling.
