I put it to you, good folk of Alt/Indie, how should I relieve myself of this pocketweight?

I'm torn between picking up the new releases as they reach the shelves (Wild Beasts coming on the 9th of May I think, Arctic Monkeys and Bon Iver in June), the latest releases that have yet to meet my ears (I'm hearing good things about PJ Harvey's 'Let England Shake') and just plucking out some curates' eggs.

    Any suggestions?

Get the Steve Reich 'Phases' box set if you don't have it (or its composite parts) already.. That'll take care of about €30 I'd say

Put it towards the Screamadelica Collectors edition.

A bit off the wall, but check out Rolling Blackouts by The Go! Team. It's a fantastic album. Listen to a track off it here. I'd definitely recommend it as an album anyway.

Cheers for the suggestion! Got the advance copy of it, great album, went to see them in the Black Box in Galway, amazing gig!

You should maybe see if your voucher can be used on HMV.com. IIRC cds and stuff work out cheaper if bought in sterling. There'd be a postage charge though, and I'm not sure what the exchange rate is like...so, er, to sum up, my idea sounds like too much hassle...
    ...self-negating post there, sorry...

(Oh, also...'Let England Shake' is ace...)

Is this a joke on the way Reich's music repeats itself?

    Hahaha, I wish I meant that... :P

It isn't just Reich, that's the whole minimalist thing. I think Reich is the best of the minimalists. That Phases box is really good. One thing I wish it had was City Life, my favourite of Reich's work. But it's still a box of excellent music.
