Anyone know of pubs showing the rerun of the F1 today- used to be everywhere- but hard to find a pub showing them these days- like full volume -proper screen etc. Do they still exist?

With the way the pub trade is going best thing to do is go in and ask will they put it on

If they say no turn around and walk out and try somewhere else

Depends on what match is on

    And today is Liverpool-Arsenal so

    No chance:eek:

Its a shame to be sure but unless the customers ask then unless there is a F1 fanatic behind the bar then it wont be on

Just thinking that a Forum meet up in a pub for a GP could be a good idea

Maybe for the Canadian GP at least that is after Dinner time

I remeber in 1997'98 era going to Vicar street for a few races (proper races for F1 fans). It was a Sunday brunch, a little expensive but it was different and a great afternoon. Be nice to see something similar, now thats in on BBC1 HD and no ads.

Can you really watch a gp in a pub though. Maybe its just me but I like to be able to hear every detail as intended. I know even if someone comes in at home when its on, it ruins it.
Cinema type thing would be good though where there is no messing, large screen and great sound.

Depends on pub layout, and probably on football games.
I watched last year 2 races no probs. I guess because was only few lads inside watching horse race on other screen, wasnt noisy.
I dont remember now.. if it was one pub in Roselawn (next to Tesco) in Blanchardstown which had projector big screen. or Myos in Castleknock.

I wonder would there be a big enough demand for a Motorsport Bar in Dublin.

They could show F1, Rallying, D1, Nascar, IndyCar etc,

Deck all the inside out with helmets, tyres, bumpers etc.

I wouldn't mind parting with my cash in a place like that!

I wonder there isn't one at least already.. really disappointing :/

I bet there is enough people interested in motorsport and would go out to watch and have a couple of beers and fingerfood but pub owners are just too cautious not to interrupt premier league etc plus lazy what comes advertising these kind of events.. that is pretty much on primitive level here, same goes for example WLAN availibility.. its 2011 already.. bar owners comooon!

there would be no harm in asking , i'd say the replay of the race would be on setanta shown this week - probably setanta sports 1. if all else fails try justin.tv or youtube maybe, i watched the race on justin.tv at the weekend and found the coverage quite good

It'd be great if a few pub owners around the country took the chance and opened a motorsports pub.

I'd even travel to go to one on race day, just to be with like minded people.

The only danger is...only having a crowd in on racedays!

I wish I was minted, I'd take the chance and open one!

no motorsport at the list.. useless. Will send them a question anyway.. maybe some pub will realize motorsport too could attract good amount of people.

During the Jordan era most pubs always showed the race in my experience. There were no lunchtime kick offs in the football on a sunday, usually one match at 16.00 so pubs were happy to show it as it didn't clash with anything. I always remember watching Spa '98 in Courtneys in Lucan. I was the only sap watching it but then it all went off from the start and suddenly half the pub were hovering around the tv watching in disbelief. Nothing like a good crash to draw a crowd!:pac:

Speaking of the flowing tide pub, I just called them and he said they should be showing the Monaco Gran Prix (provided there is no big football game on at the same time). They open at 12.30 so should be able to get the pit walk as well. My satellite is on the blink, hence all the sudden interest in going to a pub ;)

Yeah they added F1 indeed cheers!

I know Living Room was great for Ice Hockey games. Murrays is super in Drum n Bass parties :p

I guess just have to walk in there (these two are next to each other) this saturday/sunday to see which one has BBC and no music/other sports in a background

I'll start with The Flowing Tide pub, as there is a organised F1 event by Sparks43 (Canadian Gp), but the Living Room sounds good too.

The Indian GP is on at 9.30am this Sunday on Sky I believe. Anybody know a pub that might be showing this in Dublin city or would it be best to try the early houses?
    Thanks
    Mike

Try to ring the Flowing Tide and ask if they show it?
