Hi, I am changing a 105 ten spd 11-28 to an ultegra 11-25. The ultegra has one spacer to go between cassette and wheel, the 105 had one spacer plus a wider ring with grooves between cassette and wheel. Should I leave old spacer and ring on when fitting new cassette? Thanks for any advice

Make sure you keep the same number of spacers as you have now. Standard 10sp Shimano is one 1mm spacer. Mavic wheels require a second spacer, which is grooved like you describe. This spacer is specific to the wheel, not cassette, so you won't get one with your new cassette (you should get the standard Shimano 1mm spacer.)
