Using dual monitors/television for TV?

Hi, feel free to move this if it's in the wrong forum, I just wasn't sure.

Basically, I got the mad idea of splitting the TV screen into two screens. i.e. Instead of something just normally being on the one standard TV, you could split it into two screens.

See the image below to understand what I'm trying to do.

I know it's possibly for computers, I work in a station with one such example.

I'm just wondering if it can be done by hooking up multiple small TV's??

Because, I've a few small TV's lying about the place and would be very interesting if I could get them all working as the one TV!!

Anybody know the cables I'd need, software, methods to go about etc etc

    Thanks guys :)
