As I think many of us knew [mod edit: name of journalist removed] has been accused regarding an 18 month relationship with a 14 year old. A paper - the Sunday World named him today.

[mod edit: link to referenced article deleted]

He has not been arrested/charged due to being under care in a hospital.

How the media deals with this will be interesting to see.

A listener texted Eamon Dunphy to complain that both Newstalk and RTE left the Sunday World out of their reviews of the papers. His response was that they may face legal challenges over this headline and that was why Newstalk were ignoring it.

Today FM discussed it quite fully. Interesting as they and NT share the same ownership.

Idiots. If true, this could conceivably get him off the hook.

I'm temporarily locking this thread ( having edited the OP and deleted another post) until I get some advice on the legal standing of repeating a potentially libellous claim.

My understanding is a publication can be sued for defamation even if they are just repeating a claim made elsewhere and if that is the case this thread will remain locked permanently.

Any threads started on this topic in the meantime will be deleted and the poster will be banned immediately.
