    Hi,
I'm currently in my 2nd year of a three year degree in DCU. Recently, i've heard of a few students (mainly final years) who are going to be doing (career-related) internships abroad over the summer.
I'm heading over to America this summer and i would love if there was some way that i could get one of these internships.
I've no idea how these are organised so i am just wondering if anyone here has any ideas how these placements are made.
    Thanks in advance! :)

A lot of students are doing Intra placements right now, those are part of their course and the college helps them to find interviews for places. If your course doesn't do Intra you're kind of on your own to find one, sorry.

What course are you in? That may help a bit. I would have a talk to Lecturers etc and see what contacts/advice they may have. I got my intra (Engineering) in germany through my Lecturer, who had a Phd student in industry there. Others got places in Austria and elsewhere through his contacts.

I'm on INTRA in The Netherlands. It was pretty straightforward for us though. The employer offered a number of places to our course through the INTRA office, I applied, was called for an interview (this was done via skype since the company has no offices in Ireland) and I got the job.

The INTRA office will inform you of all the companies offering placements, it's up to you to apply for the ones you want. They have a website where the available internships are listed along with the deadlines for application, information about the position etc.

If there's nothing abroad listed then you'll have to go looking for one yourself.

Afaik, if you can find something beforehand and get details of the position to show to the intra office (don't expect much from them btw), then you can take that position if they deem it appropriate.

    What course are you doing?
