decided to go for the cheeper option and bought a pond kit .700ltr pond liner and fountain . started digging the hole ,was fine at first ,then hit some nasty rock/compressed soil and alot of stones so had to buy a pick axe to break through .underestimated the amount of work involved .taking a rest today

Digging down is alway hard. Digging a trench is much easier, because once you down you just work away.

Have you bought a pump yet?

still resting at the mo .that digging takes alot out of ya ,booked time off for next week so will do some more then .have a pump for the fountain so far ,if it turns out crap at the end think i will just re fill itand plant a tree:D.

    bump

I'm after a pre-formed pond, around 1,000L, preferably rectangular. They're hard enough to find.

I wonder 8 years on if that pond was ever dug out fully...

Thanks, but that's not rectangular and seems quite expensive. I actually found someone with 800L rectangular ones for under €200.

    What shape is it then?
    800L is not 1000L either

It's not really any shape, it's got loads of curves.
800L is close enough for me.
