    Hi all,

I hope someone can help me.

I'm looking to buy a hunting lamp as a present. It wouldn't be mounted to the gun or anything - it would be separate, carried along with the gun.

I'm out of my depth here as it's not for me so I'm not sure where to look for it or even what to look for!

It would be for night fox hunting but not with a rifle.

Any help would be really be appreciated and if you need more info please let me know and I'll try to post as much as I can

    Thanks

Hand held Lightforce 170 would be the most versatile and handiest lamp. Presuming the hunting will be done with lurchers. Some use the bigger Lightforce Blitz, but that becomes a pain in the ass to carry in my mind anyway. Get an amber/orange filter to go with it to make a good present even better ;)

If not a rifle, I take it its a shot gun.
There is a long running debate on here between the LED LENSER P7 & The LIGHTFORCE 170, They both are great but for a shotgun the p7

I have a Led Lenser P7. Fits in your pocket, yet has a very strong beam.

    I also have a Lightforce 170 striker
The lightforce needs serious batteries to stay operational.

The P7 Battery lasts and lasts.
I've used two sets of batteries since Christmas (AAA batteries by 4)

If it's not for a rifle and for a shotgun I would say the p7 would be fine but since it will not be used on the gun and will be used as a searcher maybe the Lightforce 170 would be the best.
