Not too sure where else to post this....

I recently moved into a new house with another lad who I barley know and its a 6 month lease and we want to get cable but they only do a minimum of 12 months and I worried about if things dont work out I will be having to fork out for the second 6 months on my own and I was wondering what should I do about this situation?

He wants to go half on high spec TV which I am okay about (if its not too much) but just worried about if things dont work out what till happen. Should I just suggest that only one of us buys the TV?

as far as the cable - check out the contract - see how much it costs if you want out before 12 months is up (early cancellation fee)

as for the tv - well that really depends. as you say you barely know him... so even if you lived there a few years there will be the 'who gets the TV?' discussions when one of you moves on. it might be better if one person buys the tv or maybe you can agree - if you went halves - if things dont work out then the one who wants to keep the tv pays the other some money (but as youve used it, it wont be the half originally contributed) - maybe you can agree if one moves on after 6 months then the other pays a half of what you paid (so that would be a quarter of the tv price) <- could be too complicated but sounds reasonable
