Was over at this today in Brooklands - did the AMG experience which means you spend 3 hours hooring around in difference AMGs - an hour in each. I drove the CLS63 AMG, SL63 AMG and the C63 AMG. Great day - you effectively sit in with your instructor for the 3 hours and you drive around between different tracks. They have a pretty big slip area that we spend most of our time on just trying to hold the cars in a drift for as long as possible. They also have a handling track - pretty tight but you do manage to the the cars up to around 95mpg before putting the anchors. The other area is where you can do fast launches as well as testing the stability systems etc

Brooklands itself is huge with 3 floors of Mercs of all sorts, museum, sales area etc. At lunch time there was a show where 4 Stig esque guys came out in C63 AMGs and did synchronised drifting and high speed laps.

The highlight of the day was definitely the C63 - the engine note was just that bit better than the rest and it just felt the right size and so well balanced

I was there a few years ago with a friend who's totally disinterested in cars and he was bored after 15 mins so I couldn't enjoy. Mind you, visited the old Brooklands proper that day - saw the banking and all the old aeroplanes, including Concorde.

That morning we visited McLaren over in Woking - had a contact there at the time. I think I saw what might have been a very early prototype for the MP4-12C under a dust cover. They were making the McLaren-Merc road car there at the time and apparantly Ron Dennis and co considered it a lardy soft-arsed yoke not in keeping with what McLaren represented.

It was 2007 - Alonso was there at the time and it was just before holy war broke out between him & the team...

    Best 'car' day ever:D...

Great place, took an E63 for a spin there last year. So much better then other track days I've been at :D

The manufacturer-sponsored places are always better for track days I think. They're not too precious with the cars because the whole thing is essentially a PR exercise and they don't mind the cars being thrashed to within an inch of their life as they'll just replace them as and when required.

If you liked MB-world, you'll probably like Galeria Ferrari too, it's a similar factory-sponsored set-up. I plan to visit it this summer (this guy's a terrible driver but scroll to 1:40):

If I had LOTS of money, I would definitely buy one of those Unimog Black Editions.
