Britains Got Talent, American Idol etc.... will we have to spend the rest of our lives hearing about such ****e?!? Or will it hopefully die, like the showbands and Big Brother!

Channel 5 this summer. Thankfully most people don't have Channel 5 or don't know how to use Other Channels on a Sky box.

Hmm. After carefully pondering this issue, I have arrived at the conclusion of Who cares? like the first reply to this thread said, I'll just change the channel. :D

Relax! Big brother is on channel 5 so barring any major Googling to find out how to tune in channel 5 in Ireland you should be safe!

Having said that, if the newspapers are to be believed the powers to be at Rte believe that introducing Irish versions of mastermind and the x factor can only be a good thing for us.

So you never know.... coming to an Rte channel near you, we could be seeing whacker from ballyer and saoirse from d4 in the big brother house some time soon! There's certainly plenty of empty properties knocking around! :D

And we all know how business is booming in the music industry...

These trash TV shows have prevented many a real talent from being discovered. It is tragic. As was said in the opening credits of 'We Will Rock You - The Musical' 2002 - X Factor is sent from Hell to destroy Music. It could not be truer.

These shows are a farce. PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

For a brief moment I thought that perhaps the BBC got it senses back and started to show some high brow documentaries, and in fairness there have been some good ones lately. But please, please can some one stop these endless Opportunity Knocks repackaged and achieved nothing celebrity cooking living with nobody's trite that is always on!
Even worse that if decide to watch a different channel, listen to radio or even read a paper, all that crap is in there also!

I'm always astounded when someone who I had judged an intelligent rational person starts talking about these shows.
I have been branded a TV snob. A moniker which I accept with gratitude.

Only on a channel which I thankfully don't have. Being Irish has never been so rewarding.

Come to think of it that's actually a valid justification for watching them: "Sure X Factor's ****e but it's funny all the same" etc.
