Short hairstyles

I have medium-long hair that is somewhere between curly and wavy. It is extremely thick (I have had hairdressers remark that they've never seen thicker hair) and it's so hard to do anything with. Straightening takes a life time so I always just tie it up. I really want an easy to manage short hairstyle that looks good but…

I really want an easy to manage short hairstyle that looks good but because of it's thickness, it's curliness and my big head I don't think anything would suit.

Ideas?
