    Hi,

This post may sound funny to some of you but I am honestly in the dark with this one, despite talking to a few people.

I am trying to go back to my profession: teaching, after 6 year break and moving abroad...not easy.

I am half American half Polish, used to teach languages in Poland in secondary and vocational schools, hold Masters in Education (Russian language specialism - from Polish University) which was fully recognised by the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland. Just completed TEFL ACELS course and TEFL work experience in a college in Amsterdam.

Want to start PhD but can't afford to study either full time or part time at the moment.

My question is: Can I teach anything else than English, Russian or Polish and where (public or private schools only? Adult Education only? VECs??) I was told that I should apply for literacy tutoring, communication or admin jobs in Education, Training etc. but I would like to get a full picture. My university course covered language methodologies and teaching in great detail. I find it hard to get information re VEC panel for teachers, how to register? Is there a special website section or time to do it? How to apply for university jobs?

So many questions... I will be grateful for your suggestions.

    Patricia

Have you contacted the teaching council regarding what you are eligible to teach?

yep, not very helpful, said russian only, which may be the case in primary and secondary schools, but would have to take irish exam (;-) plus russian isn't exactly a popular language in secondary schools over here. I am more into adult education..
