Hey, I'm a sixth year at the moment, and so I'll be applying for the grant (My brother gets it, so I presume I will too.)

My careers teacher isn't ever really in, so we're not given much information on applying, but from what I've read online it's going to be open for applications from May onwards. Do I apply online or apply to my local VEC?

And if so, should I start gathering my required documents now just to have them ready to be sent off as soon as the grants application opens?

    Thanks. :)

    Hi

It is not possible to apply online. You download form from studentfinance.ie not sure where you need to send it off VEC or local authority. Phone them and ask. It is a good idea to start collecting the documents, get it sent off once you finish the LC.

Best of luck with the LC

the following VEC offices take online applications from students.

    City of Cork VEC
    County Cork VEC
    County Donegal VEC
    County Dublin VEC
    City of Dublin VEC
    County Kildare VEC
    Dun Laoghaire VEC
    County Louth VEC
    City of Limerick VEC
    City of Waterford VEC
    Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council

all other locations will need you to print the application form off, or ring and ask for one and they will post you out an application, or you can even call in and collect one yourself.

Thanks! :) I'm Co. Waterford, so I'm not sure whether all of Waterford is covered with the same VEC (I think there's two, but it could be changed now, I'll ask my brother tomorrow, he should know!).

Thanks for all the help. :)

yes try and gather all the documents now so that as soon as the form goes up online you can fill it in and send it off

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
