Whats the exact legal stance on Euthanasia?

I know it's illegal here, but is it a crime for someone to leave Ireland and travel to say switzerland to have it done? Could their families be prosecuted if they assisted them in travelling out of the country to have it done? as in similar to the way it was illegal for people to leave the country for abortions.

Is there any major legal cases/case law that exists I could look at to get a better idea of the whole thing, any suggestions?
    Thankd

It's not illegal to leave the country for an abortion. If the person left the country thenselves there would be no issue. Leaving the country with the intention of committing an act that is legal in the destination country is perfectly legal; otherwise everybody going to Amsetrdam would be turned back at the airport. If the family were assisting then I'm not so sure; it may come under the aegia of aiding, abetting, counselling or porcuring a crime.
