Mine is free but im with aib , and they are very hard to get money off in the last year . 37 a month sounds very steep

I would get on the phone and tell them that youre not happy about it , maybe even tell them that you are considering switching to another bank . They should be the most eager people in the country to hold on to their customers at the minute considering their own lack of money .

ye i think they know that not many banks are taking on new customers , tried to move to aib but they didnt want my business:mad:

Just wondering do many of the farmers on here use stocking loans often or have ye built up herds slowly with you're own money ?

Hey whelan, you really have to move banks, never heard of anyone being charged for internet banking. What exactly do you get with the business ac?

Heard AIB are lending money for stocking loans at around 4%. Could be helping the price of cattle in the mart at the moment. Its about half their overdraft rate.

Very difficult to understand that? Are you absolutely sure this charge is for internet banking alone? Could the €37 cover other charges.

It just seems totally crazy, to be honest.

My business account with AIB charges 50 a quarter for internet banking. How did the other AIB posters get this to being free? I wrote them a letter asking them to drop the charge and they just refused.
Are the people who have free internet banking actually talking about personal, not business, accounts?

Bank of ireland used to give you free banking if you made 3 online transactions per month. I think that has changed recently. But they definitely don't charge for online banking - they want to encourage people to use it.

That was the tack I took when asking AIB to drop the charge (i.e. I'm saving them work by using it) but they really didn't go for it. I reacted by opening up a Rabobank account and putting all free cash in there so the interest covers the AIB fees.

I got a young farmers package with internet banking from AIB and as far as i am aware the charges are only free for the first two years.

Ah ok, that makes sense, I think I remember getting free fees for the first couple of years as a new business too.

I actually looked on the UB website last night, at the business account charges section.
Couldn't find anything re internet banking charges!!
Mind you ............. plenty other chargeble items in there.

As Reilig mentioned on a few other posts, BOI seem to have the best charging structure.
I pay zero internet charges, and a fixed amount per quarter for all other fees.
I know they are about to change that now so you have to have a flow of x amount of euros into the account every quarter.
That structure will not work for me, as nearly all farm income has comes in in the first and last qtr of each year:confused:

You have a business ac and that's why you have that charge.. Switch to a current ac and there is no fee

My head is also wrecked with this. I have a business account with boi since 05 and only now I want to use internet banking, only to check balance and the odd payment. They want €15 a month (they give a two year free grace period when you start with them) but I cant avail of that. €180 a year just to check the balance is excessive in my opinion. €37 is a joke. Aib also give a two year grace period. My advice would be to change over, 444 euro a year for internet banking is shocking.

yes but where can i change to , i have tried aib , they dont want my business

Bank of Ireland offer the same grace period where you get the first two years free. I dont know how every other person on this thread are getting internet banking for free indefinitely. Maybe that it is because they are sole traders and not limited companies.

I would imagine, we are all using personal current accounts.

I'm paying €19.05 per month for business bankline with Ulster, the charges seem to be calculated like this,

Description Price per unit No. of unit Amount
    UBR Monthly Service Fee 19.05 - - EUR 19.05
UBR Intra Bank Payment at 0.06 EUR 0.06 0 EUR 0.00
UBR Next Day Payment at 0.06 EUR 0.06 0 EUR 0.00
UBR Same Day External at 18.38 EUR 18.38 0 EUR 0.00
UBR Same Day Internal at 18.38 EUR 18.38 0 EUR 0.00

The previous Ulster internet banking system was called Anytime, and with it it was possible to avoid a monthly charge by not signing up for the payments module, that doesn't seem to apply with Bankline

I think you should be able to do your transfer via one of the cheaper options? I don't think I've ever had to resort to the dearer ones. I'm not even sure what the difference is?

I used to work with these a few years ago.

You should be able to add your other account onto bankline as a 3rd party (if its non personal) and be able to transfer funds for free (or maybe for 5cent, something like that)

Never pick the option of same day. They are only for real emergencies for large amounts of money.

You should have been given a list of the charges. Contact your business manager in the branch to try and get some of that money refunded.
