MacBook Pro won't charge

SOrry if wrong place for this, I'm in a hurry because I have 5 mins of batt time left and then no more laptop until I can find an Apple store.

Basically, my laptop won't charge. It's MPB 2.4 Ghz, bought July 2010 from Refurb store. Just yesterday the green/orange light stopped coming on and it stopped charging. For a while moving the cord in just the right way worked, but now that doesn't work either! So I presume it's charger.

Does anyone know if this is covered by warranty? Or should I just go buy one?

    Thanks!!

My partner has had lots of problems with the charger on her mac bought about 18 months ago. The first, which came with the mac, just stopped working, she had it replaced and now the replacement has a habit of switching off , there seems to be a problem with poor wiring as when you jiggle the plug end of the cable around it flickers on and off...not very satisfactory for an expensive bit of kit !

Best advice is to get onto them pronto !

I live abroad so can't do anything right now, was hoping someone might have a DIY remedy.

I'm attaching a photo of what I currently have (a band-aid) to keep the thing working. If this can just do me for a few weeks then I can get a new one in Ireland when I'm home (no mac stores here!).

But now someone has told me that theirs went on fire when they did what I've done. Is this possible??

ohh crap !! Thats one of the newer ones, not happy to hear they are giving bother as well, my better half had to travel up to Belfast late on Sunday at short notice to pick up one of those, her last one packed up completely . Thats the same as the one she got and it was £50 !! Better than down south where it was E75 iirc.
