At least 2 or 3 times a week (probably depends on the runway in use), a turbo prop passes over my house in Donabate, north Dublin at around 1.40 a.m. I presume it takes off from EIDW. I took a look out and it was heading east.

I checked http://casper.frontier.nl/eidw/, but there's nothing there around that time.

Anyone any idea what it is? Just curious.

That makes sense. More likley to be a cargo flight at that hour of the morning.

Yep it's all cargo, used to work for them. They have a Cork route too which has been going for quite a while. They're now called West Atlantic after they merged with Westair Sweden back in 2008.

If you catch them on the radio call out ouiiiiiii softly.... bit weird but you'll get a similar response... ;)

is the show ice piolts NWT on in ireland. i am in canada, its on the history channel, so i have been watching it, its about buffallo air who fly DC 3's and electra's in the artic. Anyhow, i think it was two weeks ago and there was an episode about them going to Atlantic air England to buy a new Electra.
    Sorry for getting off point!

I must watch that, yeah ice pilots was on here, I've only caught bits of the show on the discovery channel.

I remember hearing about some dealings with Buffallo Air but don't have the exact details.

Also they have an Electra they bought from Reeve Aleutian Airways in Ancourage. Just used for parts though!

observed some sort of prop plane last night circling over north dublin for two hours. from 00.30 to 2.15am flying very low over finglas, mulhuddart, clonee.

possible air corps, garda plane. no way cargo flights circle for two hours.
    couldnt get clear view.

    any thoughts?????????????

Couldn't tell ye, could be maintenance check flight, air corps defender etc, nav aid alignment flight, the list goes on..

Yeah your right, no one would be burning fuel for 2hrs circling without a good reason
