Asterisk/SPA300 troubles

    Hi

I have an asterisk setup at home, using Blueface for VoIP.
The VoIP part of things is working fine.

Since i get bband over eircom, I wanted to connect the PSTN line to Asterisk via SPA3000.

I have not had much success with this: I have followed a tutorial from the FreePBX forums, but when I dial into the PSTN line:

    * my asterisk extension ring, but when I answer (or let it go to voicemail) all either caller can hear is a very faint, extremely distorted and not intelligible, but still "recognisable" speech.
    * subsequently the SPA3000 does not correctly drop the PSTN line, so eircom thinks that the line is engaged. Asterix does terminate the call with Hangup. You have to power cycle the SPA3000 to get it back to the idle state. Then the next external call puts it back into brain dead mode
    * Furthermore, it looks like I cannot factory reset my SPA3000 either. I don't get a prompt when I connect a handset and dial ****RESET#, and none of my settings are removed.

Any suggestions for any of the above troubles?
Anyone know where I can find the proper Irish geographic settings for such a device?

    Ta
    Liam

    ... if it's any indication,

    * when not powered on but with handset and PSTN line connected, the handset can dial out on the PSTN fine

    * when powered on but with only handset connected (to try factory reset), when I lift the handset all I can hear is a high-pitched tone, not a dial tone. And keypresses are ignored. Nothing happens when I dial ****

Is the SPA3K broke, or just badly misconfigured somehow?

    Hints gratefully accepted.

    Liam
