Hey guys, dont know if im in the right catagory for this question but was wondering could anyone tell me how a pulsator works, as in pulsators used in milking machines. How it works with the motor, how to incorperate them into a machine and so on. Thanks guys.

From looking here I think you will find what you want.

Thats explained how milking machines wok in general but im more conserned with the mechanics behind the pulsator, like how its fitted and incorperaed into the machine. Basicly if i were to build a machine how would i go about it ?

Are you going to do what I think you're going to do?

well i need to understand how it works and a basic idea of how to build one for a little project

Whats your background OP? We need to know how much you know about engineering before we could give any sort of advice. To build a product from nothing requires at least a basic understanding of maths and physics.
As the pulsator is connected to other devices it would also be helpful to know what devices (motors, pumps, etc.) you intend to use. Do you want to build a pulsator from scratch or do you want to use one you already have and intergrate it into a new machine of your own design?
From what I read in the link I provided a pulsator is a pneumatic device that is regulated. That means it creates a puslating vacuum of a certain strength over a certain time period. In basic terms you will need a vacuum source that you can control. Is this what you want to design? Do you have the part that attaches to the teat? Is it a control circuit for this device that you require?
In engineering we have a saying 'specify, specify, specify'. The more information you give us the more advice we can give you. So tell us in as much detail what you already have and also in as much detail what you want to achieve.

basicly i am looking to refine the entire system (motor, vacuum pump, regulator and pulsator) to a hand held power source instead of a genaraor or mains. To do this i need o understand how a pulsator is incorporated ino the system so i can designe an over all smaller unit.

I am nothing, i dont need to build it my self but i need an idea of it to get someone to build it with a backround in engineering

It takes years to develop a new product OP no matter how simple it seems. Every so often some non engineering persons come in here with a great idea for a new product but they never seem to realise the work and cost that is involved in doing this.
Have you done a search to see if any products like the one you want are on the market? If so it would probably be cheaper to buy one rather than to develop one yourself. I'm not trying to discourage you, just to get you to see that this kind of project isn't as simple of cheap as it might sound.
You need a source of vacuum, a control circuit for that vacuum, a reserve for the vacuum, a container to collect the milk, a mouthpiece, a portable power source, etc. So lets start at the beginning, what do you already have?

so you're not going to suck yourself off then?

I dont have anything, im trying to understand how it works. I understand it for the most part its just the pulsator i need to know about. Again i know its job i just need to know how it does its job, all its properties and extremities and how its incorperated into the rest of the machine

find out who makes the pulsator (i dont know anything about em so cant help) go to their website or contact them looking for info on how it works.

they should be able to give you an outline at least on how it works.
