Does Your house have a blackhole of some sort??

    :confused::confused::confused:

My house does, or something similar to one anyhow. It's been going on for years, things going missing. Mainly clothes such as socks, boxers and lately my t-shirts  It's really getting on my nerves, recently I have lost an Ireland Football jersey to the mighty black hole, it just disappeared into thin air.

So has anyone got a black hole in their house where all their socks and other clothes seem to go?

Surely there's somewhere with at least a hundred of my socks!

Do they disappear in your house?

I wouldn't mind if pairs of my socks disappeared, but it's only ever one of a pair.

I swear the washing machine eats them

I thought mine had, only things like coats/shoes and really nice stuff got lost in it though....then I realised the black hole was actually me leaving stuff behind on drunken nights out or my sister "borrowing" stuff.

But I do have a drawer where I put socks which I can't match up after doing the washing...it's only getting bigger which is really wierd!

It's pairs of scissors and sellotape in our house that disappear as well as odd socks. Cecilia Ahern wrote a book about things that go missing 'A Place Called Here', a bit mad it was.

    M.I.A CLOTHING

(I've heard :D) sometimes maybe when a girlfriend/wife/significant other/mother is not impressed by your sense of fashion that the above mentioned MIA clothing may in fact be hidden within the house for a few weeks, just to guage the pain/effect of withdrawal of said item might have on owner!

If owner is not too badly upset by loss of said item or doesn't notice ..

Item then moves to black bag and goes to local charity shop! :D

    And so the cycle continues..

Watch the wimmins then you'll see where the stuff goes! :p

    Poor OP

    Come live with me

Arrive home Friday evening from college with a big bag of washing which is flung in the utility room.
Leave Sunday evening and it's all washed, dried and ironed

We have pixies living in there, only possible explanation :)

I am convinced that there is a black hole in my house where things disappear to, most noticeably pens, plectrums and gogos. At first I was convinced it was my mother throwing stuff away when I wasn't looking but even though I've moved out it still happens.

One day I was bítching on the phone to her about how my washing machine eats socks! It just gobbles em whole, only one of a pair. Of course she was all like .
Two weeks later the washing machine breaks down. Floods the friggin kitchen. We call in the repair guy. He pulled....wait for it..... 15 different socks out from the washing machine innards. So the next time someone tells you washing machines cant eat socks tell em to go fück theirselves!!!

Lost so much good clothes to them b@stard gnomes.. if I ever catch them I'm gonna beat them good!

Our blackhole takes pens, one sock of every pair, one shoe/runner and occassionally school jumpers. I have a washing basket almost full of odd socks, it's rare the other one shows up again.

I lost a girlfriend to one once. At least that's what I tell myself.

Do you have a girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband? Could this black hole be them "disappearing" your manky jocks, socks and jerseys?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,758 ✭✭✭✭TeddyTedson

Football shorts are always going missing on me, and socks.
Then every so often a top will go missing for a good 2 months or so, unless I really like it and then I'll probably never see it again.
I'd really love to know where this stuff goes!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 591 ✭✭✭sidneykidney

My socks and jocks are always going missing, I reckon there is a one legged thief stealing them off the clothes line in the back :o

One of my Football socks, GONE. Wearing odd socks to the game today.....

Surely there is somewhere in my house that has hundreds of socks and pens and shorts etc. ?

Not only is it a black hole, it's actually a worm hole into the future.

I lost my physics notes in first year.

I found them amongst my second year maths notes - that didn't even exist when the notes went missing

I lost a steel ruler in my school bag for a month - they were bloody expensive in dem days and I emptied the bag more than once searching for it - and yet it re-appeared later on

Very same thing happened to me in 5th year, 'lost' a calculator for a few months, yet it reappeared in my locker  To this day a few years on I have two calculators. :o

A girlfriend, wife or mother is throwing them out on the sly or worse still: "'organizing" them which means they are routinely categorized and hidden away for some remote catastrophic eventuality like a nuclear holocaust.

Whenever I'm searching for something that I've lost, I don't find it, but do find another item that I gave up looking for months earlier.

So, if you do lose something, search for something else, and you'll find the object that you really want.

Sock, T-shirts, Training gear, my pantaloons...they all go missing for a time at my house and then reappear in my closet weeks later.

    Definitely underpants gnomes anyway:rolleyes:

    Step 1. Steal Underpants
    Step 2. ????
    Step 3. Profit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭blaze1

Hell yeah, tbh I cant remember the last time I wore a pair of matching socks..
Im lucky if they're the same colour!!

Also a 500gb hard drive went walkabouts last year and still hasnt turned up!.

(looks to wife who has a habit of thinking stuff is for the bin)

was there 2 extra blackholes in some peoples houses today?

Does everyone have a container of odd socks in the gaff?? And why can't I just throw 'em out?? It has become a battle of epic proportions to try and reduce the volume of strays.....I have a sneaky feeling that Pennys have a black ops team (or a Black Sock Team:D) who engage in operations to ensure that we must all buy socks, an jocks, regularly thus shoring up their balance sheet:D

    They're not black.
You see, ordinary shops sell what look like black socks, but if you look closely, you'll see that they're very, very, very, very, very, very, very dark blue ...
