Long Distance Trisuit/shorts?

Was in a "specialist" store yesterday, where the guy said there is little or no difference in the standard tri-suits/shorts vs long distance. True enough, the chamois appeard to be pretty much the same on all... Anybody got an opinion on whether an "endurance" suit has any extra benefit?
