Hard Disk problems

    Hi,

I hope someone can help me please. I just got a message on my laptop saying there is a problem with my hard disk. I am currently backing up all my data. It says when that is complete to shut down and replace or repair the faulty hard disk. Does anyone know if this is a big job? How long roughly will it take? And will it cost much?

    Thanks,
    Michelle

Replacing a laptop hd should take 5 mins, reinstalling you os and programs will take 2 or 3 hours.Hd cost from 45 euro, this is something you really should try and do your self.

    Hi,
What does the error say exactly?

And to answer your other question,

Not really. You can replace it yourself easily. :):)
In less then 2 minutes, then you just need to install windows. (You should have a disk that came with your laptop) Just put the disk in the drive, and hopefully it will boot from CD.

What you looking for is a 2.5 inch hard drive LINK or PEATS
You can find them in most PC stores. You should also be able to find them cheaper. But make sure you need to. What does your error say?

First find out what type of hard drive your laptop takes (All new ones 4 years old or newer take SATA)
Older ones take IDE/PATA drives. I'd imagine yours is SATA. What make/model is your laptop?

Any problems, just post them here, and i'm sure anyone will help you.
