Does anybody know anything about this company?
A friend of mine is being interviewed by them for a managers job and is in the dark to an extent about what kind of employers they are.

Got a job there but only managed the training before I was offered a job that I actually wanted and jumped at that.

In the training, they came across as friendly and casual but very target driven. Got the impression that if you weren't hitting your targets, after a couple/few weeks, you'd be sacked. Looked like good money, if you were good at it, but with the current economic climate, i'd say the job would be VERY challenging.

I saw their add on jobs.ie recently, I literally wanted to vomit. It was something along the lines of '97% of people can not do this job' and then it went on to suggest that if you think you are one of the 3% who can, you should apply. I was wondering if 97% were people who can't do this job or won't do this job because they have too much self respect... and you know, some morals?

Got a job interview there at the end of this week, saw their job posting on fas.ie I think it was, so sent them a cv. Got a call today for an interview. It said on the job posting that the salary is €306 per week! Is this for real?

When I had an interview there last year, the basic salary was €350 and you had to get 4 people signed up to get that, if you got any more than that signed up you get extra money.

I only ever applied for it because it was in the admin section of jobs.ie and I thought it would be telesales or something in an office.

IT IS NOT!! It is cold calling door to door trying to get people signed up to a charity for over 20euro a month on direct debit.

Sounds horrible! Did you stay long in the job and how much roughly did u make? I think mine is street fundraising so probably going around trying to get people to sign up!

worked for another charity - its a hard job and will get loads of abuse off people - though it can be extremely fun and the other guys you work with awill be a great laugh, also people actually want to sign up so your not bullying people into it, the bully type recruiters and the too nice recruiters are usually sacks so your always walking a fine line - the sack rate is really high too like 1 or 2 a week so it is a skill and its not for everyone - so u dont hit targets your gone basically after a week. its on the street or door to door too.

Nope, I did the training and when I got home that evening I had another job offer and jumped at it!

Thanks! Just wondering what to do if I get it, really need money at the moment especially as the Summer is near and it's hard getting a job somewhere else at the moment.

I just got called for an interview with them... I've gotten a summer job in NEXT but im only contracted to do 4 hours a week, some of us have college fees to pay like... If i got total fundraising would it be worth it to take it instead of NEXT... It seems high risk. I know it's hard work and im not afraid of it but is the sack rate really that high? And is the basic pay 306 p/w as stated.

Congrats on the Summer job in Next. I know how you feel about the college fees, I'm only near the end of my first year so I am in need of a great amount of money for college. I'm going to attend the interview and see what they say, but I bet the €306 p/w isn't very easy to get!

It is high risk, but you should go for the interview and go for the training if you get the job and see if you can do it. There is a very high sack rate and this will be told to you at interview or training. It starts off with a group interview to see your group skills and then a 10 minute one on one interview.

You need to sign up a minimum of 4 people to the designated charity in a week to get the basic wage. If you end up getting only 4 people signed up for a few weeks, they will probably sack you as it is very target driven. If you sign up more than 4 you get extra money.

I know someone who worked for them - sounds like a sh1t job really and no better than these ' Marketing Companies ' that clog up Jobs.ie.

Have a friend going for telephone job with them, say it's a 6 month contract but is it really? Don't want her to get screwed over.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,451 ✭✭✭Delancey

What the other posters here said applies - if you don't make your targets then you won't last a week much less 6 months.
Sorry to sound negative but at the end of the day this is a direct marketing role - these jobs are pretty awful in my opinion.

@ OP - I would not be surprised if your friend going for the '' manager '' job were to discover the management position doesn't happen straight away but rather he / she will be required to ' learn the ropes ' in the trenches ( provided they don't get the boot first ).

To be honest I thought that, as did she, don't think she was too keen anyway. I guess they can take advantage of people in these times.

Its a very easy and fun job if you can do it, and great money to be made. I havent worked for them directly but friends have and they loved it.

I currently work for another charity doing the same thing.

You'll know after your first week whether your up to it.

My advice is get the weeks wage out of it anyway and theres no harm in having a go.

I presume this would not be recommended for a man with three children and alot of bills to pay? I have been called for a group interview tomorrow and after reading this I am not sure if I should bother going to it or stay where I am. If there is such a high sack rate then it is definately a big put off for someone with a family to provide for, if it's only 306 per week, it's an even bigger put off unless you're a collage kid with no major obligaitons like children to provide for.
