    Hey ladies,

    Quick question for you.

I am thinking of dying my hair the Schwartzkopf Cyber purple

    SCHWARZKOPF%20CYBER%20PURPLE%2046.jpg

I have dark brown hair so I was thinking of bleaching it first to get the most vibrant result. I don't really have the spare cash to do this through a professional hair dresser so I was hoping to do a DIY job on it.

Is this something I shouldn't do? Can you recommend any products I can use to bleach my hair at home? I'm based in Cork.

    Cheers!

I've never done it but I don't recommend it. My friend has a substantial bald patch on the back of her head from letting an (experienced) friend bleach her hair at home. she was devastated. i'm sure others have positive experiences though.

    Go for it.

    Search Youtube for some tutorials.

I would have thought that if you bleach it that colour will start washing out faster as your hair will be more porous.
If you have virgin brown hair colour (as in never coloured before) then that colour will take really well to it so no bleaching would be needed.
Have a good read of the instructions that come with the box.

I wouldn't really recommend bleaching your hair before using Cyber Purple, I've done it and the resulting colour wasn't very nice. It faded super fast too. I've used that colour over my natural hair colour too (really dark brown) and it comes out quite well. It won't be as purple as it is on the box but it'll be obviously purple.

I don't think you should do it, my male friend used to bleach his hair all the time, last time he did it he ended up with some of his hair falling out and blistering on his scalp! Extreme reaction, I'm sure he must've done something really stupid but I really wouldn't risk it.

Wow, so glad I posted a thread about it here, was about to go to Boots after work and get cracking!

I'll be making a trip to the hairdressers so. I guess it's about time I treated myself! :)

    Thanks everyone!
