Fuel Leak

Starter motor went on my 07 2.0 TDi Audi A4 last week. Brought it to the garage and they were suprised that the start motor would have gone in such a fresh car. They sent it for analysis and found that it was actually contaminated with fuel. The mechanic spent a half hour and could not find the leak in the main fuel pipes, so it must be around the engine. Its very small leak, however have the NCT in a few weeks so want to get it sorted.

He said they will have strip down the car to find the leak and he can't really give a price until they find the leak and then figure out what needs to be done to sort it.

I am a bit worried this could run into a big job for small leak. Anyone have previous experience with this type of problem in Tdi engines. I know very little about cars

Is the car in a main dealers garage, or an independant garage?

Main dealer labour costs per hour are expensive.

You could find youself in a scenario where labour cost could possibly be 4/500 to find and replace something like a rubber O-ring that costs a few euro.

It's with the local garage, he is a reasonable guy and not a rip off merchant. At the moment would be happy with 400 to sort it.
