    Hi.

I'm expecting a gift to arrive from the USA next week. It's marked as a gift.
It cost 313 dollars but my brother marked it as been worth 160 dollars.
How much tax would I be expected to pay on this?

    Zak.

If $160 is declared as the value @ roe of 1.44 = EUR110.00 approx

    21% of EUR110 = EUR23.00 + EUR6.00 Post Office Fee = EUR29.00

They may add some duty but it is usually only 5% or thereabouts.

So say roughly 30 quid or so if customs/revenue in Portlaoise even catch/levy the parcel when in comes via the post. They often do not bother with amounts in the $100-200 region, and so it comes as free parcel post.
