    I'm looking for a hobbyist blacksmith to make a couple of holdfasts

    They are a wood-holding tool forged from iron, and used in a workbench where the holdfast is placed in a loose hole and hammered downwards to secure the wood - like an instant clamp. You then smack the side to release it. Cheap cast-iron reproductions are available but they break easily. The old ones are forged iron. Here are a few images of holdfasts in action:
