I need advice, I have recieved four copies of renovation plans for my house inwhich the surveyor included estimates for the overall cost of demolishing a conservatory and extending a kitchen and the replacement of several windows and doors, it also includes a renovations of roof. This individual sourced out builders and window suppliers and had four call outs. The cost of service has come to a total of 500 euro, I feel I am being taking for a fool is this figure right?

If he has got quotes and all for you and has done a bill of quantities I think this is a fair price.

    Disclosure: Im a Surveyor myself.

I would say its a fair price for what was done as you describe it.

If he spent 10 hours on your project and you say he can charge 50 an hour....

How much expertise/experience has he got?

You did get an estimate at the start:)

Even 4 call outs are 100 a pop: the plumber/sparks/etc wont come out for less/ even the white goods repair guy is 90 just to tell u
    "sorry bud, its fcuked":D

Just to put in perspective, I am working with 2 legal firms and the rate is 475 and hour plus VAT

Pay up and look happy as they say. Seems reasonable enough to me.

I have not much background information on previous jobs he has conducted though but I have gotten the name from a reputable source. Its hard to know during theses times. I havent yet signed anything as I think he is doing this job as a nixer, should he be present during the renovations? what else should I be aware of ? as you tell not very familiar with this kind of thing. just other thing how much are pvc windows double glazed roughly?

I am being charged 760 euro for the contractor to remove defective window
install new pvc k double glazed window all flashings and seals? its not a huge window at the moment its a single glass and is divided into two windows

You need to get an agreement as to what u both expect here.

On the window, measure it and call a few people in the yellow pages, cant mention names here but if you take, a global perspective on the occupants of our upper house, that will yield two of the top names.

the number of openings in the window will be needed also
