    Hi

The above tv is in Tesco for €449 down from €749

It's full 1080 HD with usb and 4 HDMI ports. Any advice?

    Is it a bargain?

Seems like a very good price to me.

Also this TV works fine with Saorview.

Screen capture of ad from Page 16 Tesco Price News - Issue 04 2011 (from 14th April 2011) below.

As Imao points out below (see his link), same Sony KDL40EX401 TV is for sale at Powercity for €449.95. Powercity ad states TV is discounted by €150 while Tesco claims a saving of €300.

It's 50htz, the next model up the 503 has 100htz, that would be the only bad point I see with it. I looked at the picture on them both side by side and thought it was worth the extra to get the 503. The 403 though is very good at that price.

I know from testing a few that the avi support is sketchy great set otherwise

With firmware upgrade I've only found one that won't play, another I encoded myself plays at half speed but if you fast forward for 1 sec and play it plays normally for the rest of the movie. Overall I'd say the support is very good.
