Is there a better man in Ireland to place a winner and make a killing?
Saw this morning that Pittoni was to be ridden by J Murtagh and took a chance and backed him at 7/2 (touched 4s).Backed in to 11/8 and won handy.Fair play to all connections.

Well done to them, they know how to do it allright. All I saw yesterday morning was the sp forecast about him of 7/1 and I knew that wouldn't be the case anyway.

I was going to back it if I saw money for it. Typically forgot about it and when I saw 11/8 he had won at I was kicking myself.

Don't know which is the most rancid yard in Ireland, either this lot or AJM's gang,
this is the quality of the Byrnes yard

That was incredible. Never seen that race before. Shocking ride from the runner up. If your going to lose on purpose do, be a bit less obvious!!

Before I look at that link.

Is it a flat race where the Byrnes horse wins who's been pushed along and looks the loser all the way and his stablemate is cruising alongside him and then pretends to hit him with the whip and loses?

Edit-The very one I was thinking of. If I backed the second I would be absolutely fuming.Jockey should never have been allowed on a horse again.

    From the Indo.

    Thursday May 12 2005
OWNER Mary Hayes' appeal against the 60-day ban imposed on Laetitia after the mare's controversial defeat at Cork has been rejected by Turf Club's appeals and referrals committee.
The Cork stewards had imposed the suspension following the Coolmore Brian Boru INH Flat Race last month, after which amateur rider Michael Purcell was banned for 50 days and fined €2,000. The stewards had noted the explanation of trainer Charles Byrnes, whose Alpha Royale won the race with stablemate Laetitia second. The committee yesterday re-affirmed the findings of the stewards and noted that this was "the worst case of this type that they have had to deal with".

The committee noted that both Mrs Hayes and her husband John Hayes were out of the country on April 24 and that they were completely innocent of any wrongdoing. The committee was also dissatisfied with the accuracy of the evidence given by Byrnes.

^^^^How was this not punished by harsher penalties,an absolute disgrace and a cancer in the sport we all love.

I was at Listowel last year when Pittoni ran on the last day. I couldn't believe what way the horse was ridden and friends of mine asked me what was going on as i couldn't stop laughing at the performance. Not talking through my pocket as i had lumped on the winner.

IIRC the horse was banned afterwards for 42 days.
