Strange Problem with Technomate 6900

I've a slightly odd problem with a Technomate 6900 connected to an octo lnb on a standard mesh 60cm sky dish in Dublin on Astra 28 degree. :confused:I have two sky boxes (one hd) connected with no issues. The Technomate refuses to tune in a number of transponders, e.g. those showing sky news, c4, CHD , 5HD etc. I can get these and all transponders on the sky boxes. The signal strength on the sky boxes shows almost full and locked and the strength/quality on the technomate is either very high or zip depending on transponder. I don't think it's an alignment problem as it was professionally aligned and as I say the sky boxes are perfect. Could it be related to a lack of sensitivity in the technomate or something to do with a weak output from the sky octo being optimum for sky boxes only? If I use a single sky lnb I get all the channels on the technomate. Would a solid 60cm dish and octo be better or is my technomate on the way out? Any suggestions from fellow sufferers welcome!!

Yep I have a skyplus box and technomate side by side. If I switch around the cables it makes no difference. All three cables give the patchy transponder issue on the techno whilst working fine on the sky box. I might drag down an old fta box from the attic at the weekend and swop out to see if it works.

if the technomate has a specific image on it maybe updating the satellite.xml file might help.

Thanks garrycann. Not quite sure what a specific image is! The box has saorview dtt perfect and was hoping for hd for c4hd c5hd + other missing channels on sat as a backup/better pic e.g. if two channels recording on sky. Have the bbcs in hd +itvs in hd on 6900 still (+ had c4 hd til recent change in frequencies). Love the 6900 and have fiver, 5 usa etc. with NI card inserted so not an encription issue. More puzzlement than anything else at this stage! I could put a new solid dish and it could cure it but no real rational reason why. Or I could replace the technomate to discover same results. Chicken + costly egg dilema!!!! icon5.gif

your trying to tune in DVBS-2 stations so you need to edit the transponder details on the relevant channels you are trying to receive.

    CH4 HD:
    12.607 V
    27500 3/4
    DVBS2 QPSK
Then try pilot off or maybe on.
    You should get signal then

Thanks snaps tried that but it's not just some HD channels I'm missing, e.g. don't have sky news on 12.207V but do on sky box under it!! I have some DVBS-2 Stations, e.g. ITVHD, BBC1HD, BBCHD. I had C4HD until it changed frequencies recently when it went unencrypted (bit ironic!). icon9.gif The following transponders show zero quality when I scan: 10714V,11.488V,11.739V, 11.758H,11.778V,11.817V,11.856V,11.895V,11.934V,11.973V,12.012V,
    12.051V,12.090V,12.129V,12.168V,12.207V,12.226H,12.246V,12.266H,
    12.285V,12.324V,12.363V,12.382H12.441V,12.460H,12.480V,12.523V,
12.580V,12.607V, 12.402V,12.643V. A rescan yields the same results. The more I think about it the fault must be in the box.

have you tried the LNB voltage settings on the techno?

The box under it? Is the technomate using the loop out on the box under it? If so thats your problem as i notice its all V transponders?

Thanks again for suggestions folks. LNB set for universal so voltage is ok. Separate sky octo feed to the techno from sky dish so it's not a loop thru thing. The octo outputs works perfectly for a Sky plus box, a sky hd box and even an old sky box in shed 30m away!

I had a similar problem strangely enough on a clarke tech 5000c (the german version design of the technomate 6900 from the same South Korean factory). I had massive drop from 80% to nothing which became very regular and again problems auto scanning past 50%. Was coming to the conclusion that it was a cheap Sky Quad lnb problem. Its new (I wonder what the fail rate is). The voltage to the LNB is dropping constantly. Thats until I sent myself half way accross the room whilst screwing the cable back in to the receiver whilst I had my hand on the top of the receiver!

    Figure that!

Turned out to be a cable deterioration issue in the end. Swopped out techno with a HDFS and picked up some of the dropped transposers but not all. The sky box seems to cope ok with the dicey cable so must be more robust/sensitive. Thanks for the help.
