last night my laptop went haywire with this windows restore thing poping up alover the place. (AVG didn't catch it) i think i've got rid of it all now. but my desktop has been cleared of all icons and when i go to view any folders they are all empty, my hard drive space is still the same as before the problem. i just can't see anything.

    Can anyone help?

This should probably be moved here - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1009

I would say you probably still have the virus if all the folders you go into are empty. Sometimes they do stuff like that, hiding files etc. hopefully hasn't deleted them.

What I'd do is restart in Safe Mode with Networking(Restart your computer and press F8 when it's booting up, then select Safe Mode with Networking)

Then download the free version of Malwarebytes here http://www.malwarebytes.org/ update it when it asks and also run a full scan.

After that's done run AVG from the Start Menu, update it then run a full scan with that also. That should hopefully get rid of it.

If it doesn't work try stuff in this thread http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055274237
