Shower pump question

Hello all. I have recently had a Mira power shower installed and a 2 bar pump in the hot press. Only the shower is connected to pump not the taps or the toilet. I've noticed that about once a day the pump will start up as a result of nothing (shower not on, no toilet flushed) It runs for 30 secs to a minute and turns off again. This mite happen 3 or 4 times in space of 20 mins or so.

It's also very loud. It hasn't happened during the nite but I think it would wake up the whole house if it did.

My question is, is this normal pump behaviour ??

    Appreciate any advice

Have you a washer dryer fitted in your house?

Can you take a picture of how the pump has been connected to the tank in the hot press.

Wow that was quick joey thanks:)

Sorry but I'm having difficulty attaching a pic to this reply..I'm as clueless about technology as plumbing! I'll keep trying.

No washer/dryer just regular washing machine which hasn't been running the times the pump has kicked in. The heating hasn't been on either.

    Thanks again

when the pipes leave the pump do they travel at a height to get to the shower ? Like thru the attic ?

There is not many reasons why a pump kicks in at night. Its usually a pressure drop or in the case of washerdryers fitted you need to fit non return valves in the line however this does not apply to you.

I could really do with a photo of the top of the cylinder to see where the pump is connected.

    Hi Joey,

Knighted 1, yes the pipes go up through the roof into the attic.

So far today the pump went off 3 times at 7am for 1 minute at a time and went off again twice at 3pm.

I suppose my best bet would be to just get the plumber out again but I guess I was hoping someone would tell me it was teething problems that would just magically fix itself! ;)

    Cheers again
