    Hello,
I am currently looking into getting a new bike on the CTW scheme. I wanted to get the Canyon RL 6 but my company only make payment by cheque and they don't accept cheques unfortunately. So I was wondering if anyone knew any online retailers that accept cheques? As shopping online seems to be where the value is.
    Thanks:)

I bought a bike from Canyon through the BTW scheme. You'll have to ring them to ask them to send you an invoice without the VAT (they'll require your company VAT no.) so you might as well ask them if they'll accept a cheque while you're at it.

    I used these:

Sent them a sterling cheque, but think they accept euros too.

Which retailer won't accept cheques? Most of them do but it just takes awhile to get it sorted (you have to wait for the cheque to clear). You usually have to ring their customer care to organise it.

No it doesn't, unless thats company policy.

I just asked what methods of payment do you use and they said cheques, could be worth pressing this one a little.

I emailed Canyon UK a few weeks ago and they said they don't accept cheques which sucks as I'd really like one, only company credit card or bank transfer.

Theres a decent selection on evans thanks, although the canyon spec. and appearance is in a league of its own IMO.

    Thanks!

Any chance you could ask your boss to pay for it through the company credit card? ie you log on, get the payment page open and let the boss/finance department fire in the details. I got mine with a cheque but I know a girl who works with me used the company card.

Its worth asking about and I am going to, but I have serious doubts about it. Cheques are so 90's!

There is no 'payment page' if the OP intends to get it throught the BTW scheme. Canyon will have to invoice his company with the German VAT (19%) excluded. The OP's employer will have to pay the VAT to the Irish revenue at 21%.

I was on the phone to them a couple of times before my transaction. I found them to be very helpful and accommodating. At the end of the day the method of payment is unlikely to be a deal breaker. They are a business after all.

They took a Euro cheque? They would either need a Euro account to pay it into, or would have incurred some costs to get it credited to a UK account

I see they take bank transfers - this seems the simplest solution. If you have an Irish bank account you can make a payment in sterling to a UK bank account. There is a charge, which depends on whether you want it crediting same day or not.

I also think there is quite a lot of hassle (and possibly cost) paying Euro cheques drawn on an Irish bank to other countries that use the euro unless the recipient has an Irish bank account.

Interesting.. but how is this relevant? Canyon are a German company based in Germany. My bike was bought with a euro a/c to euro a/c credit transfer.
