ADI Market Query

    Hi guys

I am currently unemployed and I am thinking of doing the ADI training. I have looked in to a number of training centres and I think I know which one I am going to go for.

I am wondering before I commit to this is there a market for it at the moment?
I looked through a number of threads and there doesn't seem to be, with some people saying that they are only getting 6 hours a week. Obviously with having a mortgage and bills this will not be enough.

I haven't found anything since the introduction of the compulsory 12 lessons last week, so my question is, is it worth doing the training and do you think there will be a bigger market for it, or because of the current climate will people just not learn to drive?
Also any ADI's, have they seen an increase in lessons?

I am in the Dublin area

    Any thoughts much appreciated:)

There is not much business at the moment. Well established schools are kept going. Newer schools are getting very little work. The 12 lessons will only mean a gradual increase in work, of the next couple of years. Most people got their learner permits before the 4th. At the moment I have no EDT customers and have done less work in april then in march. This is just my experience. My advice find something else to do. But let me know if you do decide to take the plunge.

I haven't as yet had any enquiries about EDT but I see my local paper advertising 12 EDT lessons for €250 with an ADI. This is slightly more than €20 a lesson, hard to see how a living could be made from that, given all the costs involved.

Im an ADI and have not givin a lesson in a year and a half, I went out of business as I was down to only 4 hours a week. I will not be renewing my licence. My advice is dont do it.

Dublin is the busiest area in the country. I'm talking to ADI's in Dublin who are getting 15 hours on a bad week where ADI's down the country are not getting that in a month...
