Hey, I've got serious problems with a windows XP install on my brothers
    laptop.

Basically you can't hear any sound, can't go on the internet to get drivers
because the internet itself doesn't work on the laptop & I don't know how
    to get it working.

I thought the laptop was just busted but I installed xubuntu on the laptop
which bypassed the problem. With xubuntu I got the internet & sound
working fine straight away, however now the sound is gone on xubuntu
& I've tried everything I can to fix it still to no avail so I am now bouncing
back to trying to fix windows for him.

I don't even know what info I can give about XP, with linux you can
give everything via a few command line inputs so hopefully there is
some windows way I can give you guys the info needed.

thanks, my bro has been bugging me to do this for ages :D
