iPhoto won't accept upload

I'm trying to upload a video from my digital camera to iPhoto. It's about 14 minutes long and just will not upload! I tried a short clip and that was fine.

I need to get the clip onto iMovie eventually. Usually I just put it onto iPhoto first then to iMovie. Is there anyway I can do this? I just can't seem to get it off the camera!

This is the message it's displaying to me:

Any help would be greatly appreciated! if all else fails I'll have to bribe my brother into letting me try his Windows laptop!

Just open up iMovie and under "File" there's a "Import from camera" choice... :)

That takes me to iSight to record! It says "Camera" and a little drop down menu in the bottom left corner, but the only option is iSight. Doesn't seem to recognise my camera.

Ha, weird. Thought that would have been the obvious choice, guess not(I don't regularly use iMovie!). Have a look at "Import> Movies" underneath that - should allow you to do it!

Before you do anything mad Twee, are you uploading via USB or the card reader? I'd try both just in case either the reader or USB is acting up. Also, have you upgraded iPhoto at any stage recently? There are some known issues with a few types of camera; perhaps your camera is one of these.

I'm using USB, don't have a card reader. iPhoto will upload my smaller video clips, so I doubt it's an update issue. The only update I have is a suggestion to try iLife 11, same on iMovie. Annoying conundrum. Assignment due tomorrow... Ah yeah!

Tried it on my brother's laptop and bingo  My lappy is really getting old, time for an upgrade soon methinks!

Just a side note, would it be worth purchasing a new Macbook in the states? Would there be any price difference?

Probably a massive price difference, as apple tends to use a €1 = $1 policy... So buying a macbook pro over there (13" base model for $1199 is roughly €830) saves you nearly €400...
