If it's the Dali Lama, the angry militant atheists in Ireland don't care

If the Pope visited Ireland they'd be crying outrage. They love to be angry

    We'll climb Tibetan mountains
    Where we can barely breathe
    I'll see the Dali Lama
    I'll feel him blessing me.

I was unaware the Dalai Lama was the head of an organisation that covered up the rape of children by his own priests for decades, possibly centuries.

How many children have been raped by Buddhist monks I wonder? I'm guessing not many, possibly none.

You would be guessing incorrectly. Have a read of this, for example.

When people call for the restoration of Tibet to the Dalai Lama and his feudal theocracy, I don't think they quite understand what life under them was like. Great if you were one of the Lamas, not so great for everyone else.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

It's between the Dalai Lama and Eckhart Tolle for the world's best spiritual teacher. Everyone should forget about their religion and listen to these two men. The current interpretation of religion is way off it's origins, it has been hijacked over the last couple thousand years for political reasons, order and power. The Dalai Lama and Eckart Tolle can teach you the original meaning of religions. Essentially the original meaning of the major religions for the most part is about presence and transcending the ego. The "Power of Now" by Eckart Tolle essentiall cuts the bullsh$t out of the likes of the Bible and Koran and boils it down the original intent when those religions were first forming.

thats disturbing reading, blows the whole "cuddly image" out of the water

just goes to prove that celibacy has lead these monks/priests to do some awful things...it must lead to mental ill health

The Dalai Lama may claim to be more but hes just a human like the rest of us. Hes made some extremely arrogant claims about himself though.
