Am a 'BOARDS VIRGIN'...but checked it out and see forums as useful to share opinions /Knowledge....am mixed suckling and sheep myself....and going on current Mart prices would make money to sell up now:).....ewes with singles making 300 E PLUS....AND SPRINGER COWS MAKING 1700PLUS...up in da NW at the mo......no logic to it really when you factor in increased fert costs and inevitable increase in round bale costs in 2011.

I think the only (logical) reason left for these prices now is that ppl think this could be a base year for post 2013 SFP. If it's not then there is going to be a lot of ****ty underpants when the bubble bursts:eek:

I may not see the "bigger picture" in what's driving sheep prices at the moment. What I do know is there's profit to be had in selling the old, the blind, the legless at the moment!

If there's anything on farm yer not happy with right now... Cash in.

Lad I know sold blackface hoggets last week in Maam Cross, got €126 for them.

I've four Cheviot/Blackface cross two year old ewes, with two couples and two singles. I am sorely tempted to try them out see what they'd go for.

Someone also saw a profit in paying €450k for a 3 bed semi 4 years ago!!!
This is the farmers' paradox - we buy when prices are high and run a mile when they drop ............ I'm sure we think there's some logic to it!!

Think the rumours about this being base year for post-2013 is definitely driving us also into a mindless frenzy - I hope I'll not be quoting this post in 6 months time - but I'd see the processors dropping demand after september to drive prices down. Then there'll be grinding and gnashing of teeth!

Looking for a few beasts myself to keep my headage ticking over --- not pretty out there right now!
