Advice re organising a 10km roadrace

    I am thinking of organising a 10km in my area as a fundraiser.Can anyone give me any advice?I have no clue where to begin with this. Thank you!

    The only sensible way is to get your local AAI club involved. They can arrange permit, insurance, course measure etc. I'd say you won't get too far otherwise.

    It's possible but unwise. If you're fundraising then presumably you want lots of participants. These days runners won't accept a half-baked event. To put on an event that will create interest will mean a proper, measured course, risk assessment, stewarding etc. Most importantly (for you) you need insurance cover and you'll find that difficult to obtain as an individual. It's a lot of work and really needs knowledge of the sport.

    If it's a local thing with just mates and stuff then that's a bit different. But opening it to the public involves a lot of responsibility on your part. No one here will recommend just giving it a blast without consideration of the above issues.
