Lending stories

I thought this might be a good topic?

I have been annoying a 'friend' of mine for the last few weeks to give me my theory test cd-rom back:mad: he originally said ''I only need it for a week' 6 weeks later and still not seen it since, I am also waiting on another friend to return my expensive electric drill. People just don't seem to return things nowadays I swear i'm never lending people anything ever again.

    Anyone got similar stories :(:(

The worst is people who owe you money and don't have the decency to pay you back as soon as they can and try to hold off as long as they can hoping you'll forget.
Anytime I've been lent monies I pay it back first chance I get.
    It's just scabby not to!!!
I'd be embarrassed to be known as one of those ***** who don't pay people back! Absolute bankers!

I'd think of it as an investment. It's not even worth the aggravation of chasing it up. My philosophy on these dead beats is along these lines ....

A few years ago I lent my car to a friend for a few hours. She reversed into a fcuking pillar & never paid for the damage done. It was a big pillar so I honestly don't know how she didn't see it. Women drivers eh?
Then there's the usual dresses, shoes, bags etc that I know I will never see again.

worst thing you can ever loan someone is money
well, you gotta try be careful about it. a year n a half after i sold my car to a friend im still waiting on the last of the money (no i didnt sign over the logbook yet) but thats not too bad - at least i got most of it even if i had to drag it out of them bit by bit.
my dad bought a car part a friend of his asked him to get. twas 550 euro. this was well over a year ago - hasnt seen a cent. they tried to pretend they did bank transfers and sent cheques and then 'ill have it for you next week' etc etc... now theyve bought a new car. i dont ex[pect he'll ever see the money.
moral of the stories - be careful subbing someone!

think the thing i missed most: i lent a terry pratchett book to a friend 10 years ago and never got it back. i replaced the book since, but i missed that thing!

Borrowed Battlestar Gallactica Season 2 off a friend who was obsessed with the show. Finished up the season and was going to give it back to him when I realised Disc 1 was missing.

This guy is pretty neurotic about his DVD collection so I was afraid of causing him a nervous breakdown if he found out a disc had disappeared.

I searched all through the gaf, went up to the local Xtravision thinking me or my flatmate put it back in to one of their boxes. No sign of course.

So I decided to buy him a new disc to replace the missing one without him knowing. Of course I kept putting this off, every now and again he'd ask me for the Series back.

Finally decided to just break the bad news to him over a few pints.

"Yeah" he says, "I have that...remember we watched Disc 1 in my gaf and you just took the rest of them?"

    :o

I lent a girl a phone charger when I was in college, because hers broke and I had a spare one. She gave me back her broken one! I'm guessing she didn't think I'd notice because I was using another one myself and assumed that I'd just stick it in a drawer or something.

Have you asked them for it back yet or just jumped on the internet to moan? I'm not been smart I understand they should of just given them straight back but if it's such an issue your priority should of been picking up the phone and saying "Where is my cd/drill?" Not whinge here. If you already have and they didn't get them back they obviously think you're an idiot and a door mat.

    Why are you accepting that????

He's screwing you. Do you remain friends with him? He should have at least come to you and said look I haven't got the cash or when he can pay like a decent person!! You have the log book, report it stolen and **** him over :pac:

I gave this girl my heart and she walked all over it in kitten heels, scratched the fuck out of it and finally threw it back at me.
I mean ffs. I only lent it to her.
On reflection, that may have been the problem.

So...your friend had the car, you have the log, and it's still in your name? That's just genius. You do know any traffic violations, unpaid tax fines, etc are all coming to you?

"And Jesus entered the temple of God and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple and turned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. He said to them, 'It is written, 'My house show be called a house of prayer'; but you make it a den of robbers.'"

    Amen.
